From the Hills
25% from this sale will benefit Adventure 4 Change, a hub of neighbours engaging upstream to prevail against the odds of displacement, poverty and underemployment.
Lexi and her family moved two years ago from Alberta to Sunnydale, where her mother has become known as an amazing role model and instrumental part of the community. At first hesitant to join A4C’s Youth Connect program, Lexi there found openness to her voice.
Lexi was brought by her mom to the Tollgate Block Party to fundraise and hand out food; however, she quickly became an ambassador of Adventure 4 Change, outlining programs and opportunities and sharing her story. She’s since done great at A4C’s Leadership Development Intensive Program and as summer-camp staff, taking seriously the expectation that every program participant gives back.
She came to us “From the Hills”, so I dedicate this piece to her.
"From the Hills" is on exhibition at Seven Shores Community Cafe in Waterloo, partially co-owned by my dear, longtime friends, Steve and Deb Tulloch. They helped form my idea of what it means to love.
We're gonna throw a party! Stop by at the cafe from September 18 to October 26 to wander the WorldRooted gallery and enjoy a delicious treat. Then, make sure to pop by on Saturday, October 26 from 6:00-9:00pm for our open house! The counter will be open, there'll be live music, and WorldRooted swag will be available to purchase. We're all excited to say hi!
