Light
Light. Without it, how would we know darkness? Without it, how would we live?
We all crave justice. Stories of schoolyard bullying and corporate tax evasion, wage inequality and racial discrimination lead us to cheer for the underdog, hoping for wrongs to be righted. For many around the world, though, a “fair trial” is itself a cruel joke; while many more are trapped in bondage, unable to escape their tormentors and see justice served.
Brothels, drug rings and wars become the currency-makers where justice is not afforded. Where there is no light, darkness prevails.
So, proceeds from this piece will be earmarked for a monthly donation to International Justice Mission, whose vision is to “Rescue thousands. Protect millions. Prove that justice for the poor is possible,” by working to protect people from violence and end slavery. To shine a light.
