Watercolour Wednesdays group art lessons
  • Watercolour Wednesdays group art lessons

Join Bethany Ann and up to five friends for beginner-level watercolour painting instruction. You'll enjoy a series of evening lessons, from 6:00-8:00PM, in a professional art studio with professional-level materials learning about colour, value, techniques, how to record what we see... and how to loosen up and let the paint play!

Pay the session fee and fill in the Waiver & Release (sent to your email with purchase of session), then Bethany Ann will get in touch to meet you at the studio! See you soon!

    Studio address:

    44 Victoria Street South

    Goderich, Ontario N7A 3H5

    MATERIALS LIST:

    Brushes:

    • Mop brush for applying washes
    • Blending, brush, size 8 (or similar) for most painting techniques
    • Round point brush, size 4 (or similar) for detail work

    Paper:

A pad of whichever paper you prefer.

    • 140lb. is a nice, medium weight. Lighter paper warps more easily; heavier paper is harder to cut and more expensive.
    • The higher the percentage of cotton in the paper, the better it will behave.
    • Cold-press paper is textured; hot-press is smooth. Pick your preference.

    Watercolour Paints:

    • Warm, single-pigment yellow, such as Hansa Yellow Deep
    • Cool, single-pigment yellow, such as Lemon Yellow
    • Warm, single-pigment blue, such as Phthalo Blue, Green Shade
    • Cool, single-pigment blue, such as French Ultramarine
    • Warm, single-pigment red, such as Pyrrol Scarlet
    • Cool, single-pigment red, such as Quinacridone Rose
    • Burnt Umber
    • Phthalo Green, Blue Shade

    Palette:

Bring along any palette you really like. But for our purposes, we tend to prefer those with:

    • A cover, for keeping dust off
    • Deep/wide wells, so we can load paint into a mop brush without worrying about spilling into the next colour
    • Flat areas, for mixing colours

I will provide glass jars, pipettes, spray bottles, wooden boards, frisket, masking tape, gummed tape, towels, blades and a place to store your work-in-progress.
